The Internal Revenue Service requires businesses with employees to obtain an Employer Identification Number (“EIN”). Many banks require their business customers to have this number in order to open an account. You can think of this number as akin to a social security number for a business, although the individual social security number is used for more purposes than the EIN.
We would be happy to obtain an EIN for your business if you elect for us to do so. There is no additional charge to obtain this number. If you elect for us to get your business an EIN, we will generate forms that will be sent to you by email. You must sign these forms and send the originals back to us by U.S. Mail. After we receive these forms from you, we will get your business an EIN and transmit the documents relating to the EIN to you by email.
